My Sator Square tattoo. I got it when I was 22, my first autonomous palindromic year. It's the only four way sentence square in any language, and translates to "The sower Arepo holds the wheels at work." As graffiti it's been found as far afield as Herculaneum and London, but seems to be of Mithraic origin. Current Mood: cheerful

Forgive me if it's old news, but i hope you've all seen the Contrariwise blog
, a collection of text tattoos. Often, they're quite lovely; maybe some of you would like to consider submitting. Current Mood: no affliation, yada yada.

I was thinking about getting A Margaret Atwood poem tattooed on the inside of my arm.
You fit into me
like a hook into an eye
A fish hook
An open eye
wondering what script would look good.

For your viewing pleasure
A friend of mine died, very unexpectedly on mothers day night of a brain anyerisum. It was a time bomb in her head. Never knew it was there. She went to bed with a terrible headache........ that was all. She was the eternal mother.
She left behind a husband of 25 years, a daughter who turned 8 a few weeks later, and a son 18. And many friends who loved her. I loved her.
This tattoo is in remembrence of my friend Karen Becker.
This tattoo is also for remembrence of my mind. When I lose it. When the depression monster gets me. When I find myself. Of the life we have lived doing Ren Faires for over 2 decades.
RIP Karen. Current Mood: sick

I joined the other night and meant to post about my text tattoo but forgot. Sorry if you're also a member of ihearttattoos
because I posted about this back when I got it. :)
I got my first tattoo on June 3rd. Writing has always been a hobby of mine since I was a small child. When I made the decision to get a tattoo, I went through a ton of ideas but always went back to words/text. It meant something to me for some reason. I find myself interested more in text tattoos than pictures, there seems to be more of a story behind them and the story is always what attracts me. ( more rambling and a few pics :)Collapse )

*steps over tumbleweeds to post*
That, friends, is the billboard Hard Rock put up in Vegas which was promptly removed courtesy the...protect-Nevada's-repuation goons. Hee!
But...it's all about tattoos here...anyone know who this is and what that says?

Most here are probably already aware of this fascinating book by Ina Saltz -http://www.bodytypebook.com/
I highly recommend it as it’s truly unique and a one-of-a-kind look at textual tattoos. I, personally, found it very inspiring in that some of the featured collectors wear ONLY textual art. Much literary quote-age and a fascinating full-sleeve of words the wearer interprets as being in support of the American Pit Bull terrier are some of the highlights.
Motivation behind the commitment to wearing words is an intriguing study. It would be great if anyone who posts an image of their tattoo would also be willing to hold forth a bit about the inspiration behind it but also the general reaction of others to the piece.

i got this in december, its on my left wrist...
and im getting 'im not your star' on my foot this friday so ill post pictures of that too.
My Eliot tattoo!
I had to take these myself as I was home alone and could in no way snap the right arm, so this is the left tat only. The images are a bit wobbly and the focus field is a bit too shallow, but I'm sure you get the idea.
The Four Quartets - East Coker - III( two more shotsCollapse )
